About Marine Turbo Engineering.

Welcome from our Managing Director, Mark Dean

I started my career as a marine engineering officer working for the Liverpool based container ship company, T & J Harrison Line followed by P&O and Princess Cruises, London & Overseas Freighters and the Isle of man Steam Packet combining knowledge of Cruise Ship, Oil Tankers and Ferry operations. Just like many of our customers, as a Chief Engineer I worked on container ships, oil tankers, cruise ships and eventually an iconic super yacht to provide a detailed engine operators knowledge within the Marine industry.

In 1997 I joined Marine Turbo and have since worked with the whole team to develop and expand the international reach of the company so that our customers can be assured that wherever they are in the world Marine Turbo can supply both highly skilled service engineers and guaranteed parts.

It is our aim that Marine Turbo be the best independent turbocharger service provider for both land and sea applications giving high quality products at fair prices. As a company we want to continue to pursue the latest technologies in repair and reconditioning engineering techniques.

Planning for the next 55 years

Marine Turbo was established in 1970, well over 50 years ago. The company has retained both the same name throughout this time and ownership. We are one of the longest established independent turbocharging service companies in the world.

Stan Dean, one of the original founders, had been an experienced marine engineer in the Merchant Navy working on the Blue Funnel Line ships but with the arrival of a young family he decided to find a shore-based job. He joined Napier in Liverpool as a service engineer. However, in time the company decided to amalgamate many of their factories and workshops around the UK and although offered a job in Lincoln, Stan decided to stay close to home on the Wirral.

An Independent Turbocharger Service Company

He set up his own independent turbocharger service company instead, with his wife as company secretary before being joined six months later by one of the other ex-Napier service engineers. Marine Turbo's first job was aboard a Greek coaster at Sharpness, ironically on ABB turbochargers!

Engineering Standards

Stan was known for his meticulous and razor-sharp attention to detail and set the high standards that all subsequent service engineers within the company have continued to maintain. As mentioned previously, Mark joined the company in 1997 and worked on expanding the international reach, having shareholdings in workshops in Asia and the Americas.

Since those early beginnings, Marine Turbo has grown to become a worldwide turbocharger service and repair company with a highly trained and proficient team.

Worldwide Service Network

Marine Turbo has a genuine independent worldwide service network of workshops in the UK, Panama, India and Singapore along with partners in The Netherlands, Greece, UAE, China and the USA. Our teams and partners are regularly audited and have built up strong working relationships over many decades. Service engineers are available on 24 hour standby to carry out on-board and site servicing of turbochargers.

Workshops

Our workshops are fully equipped and purpose-built with facilities to re-blade or repair rotor assemblies on a one-off service exchange basis for most makes of turbocharger as well as certain obsolete ones. Our store complexes hold new and reconditioned spare parts for most leading brands. Non-destructive testing of turbine blades, impellers and casings are carried out by engineers certificated to the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing Standard No. SNT-TC-1A and to ISO 9001, the latter first being achieved in 1993.

Whether you need a service kit, rotor assembly or a cartridge assembly casing we can source your requirements. We take care to invest in stock throughout our workshops around the world which reduces delivery times, freight and customs duty costs for you, our valued customers. If you would like to view our workshop or discuss what we can do for you, please contact us.

Experience: We are experienced in working with all major shipping and fleet operators, cruise ships, naval clients, off-shore platforms, power generation plants and locomotives. If you need your turbochargers to run smoothly and efficiently and require independent, trusted service and advice, get in touch today.
